WHAT IS INFRARED SAUNA THERAPY?

Infrared light (experienced as heat) is the invisible part of the sun's spectrum (that which does not contain harmful UV rays). It has the ability to penetrate human tissue up to 3 inches to produce a host of health benefits. Infrared saunas are an effective tool for natural healing and prevention and regular use has a cumulative effect on the body, which is why we recommend using our infrared saunas at least twice a week. Our saunas are specifically designed to promote a deep, healthy and natural detoxifying sweat.

Detox Benefits:

Deep sweating detoxifies through the sweating process by reducing levels of lead, copper, zinc, nickel, mercury and chemical toxins commonly absorbed just from our daily environments. Ninety-nine percent of what is left on the surface of your skin after sweating is water. The other one percent is an unnecessary and undesirable waste. Sweating even draws out lactic acid which can cause stiff muscles and fatigue.

Sweating can remove the build-up of heavy metals from your body. It would normally take your kidneys 24 hours or more to eliminate these metals.

Reducing heavy metals corrects metabolic imbalances that cause poor digestion and weight gain. Toxins that are stored in fat are decreased, making it easier to lose weight.

Our bodies are filled with lots of harmful toxins. Every single day we collect toxins from our food, our environment, and things that are all around us. While the body can dispose of some of these toxins, it cannot get rid of all of them without sweating.

Sweat can effectively eliminate almost thirty percent of all toxins built-up in the body. Because these harmful toxins can cause the skin to age quicker, sweat can actually help to slow down the aging process.

Weight Loss Benefits:

Sweating is very directly linked to weight loss. The weight that you lose when sweating is water weight. This weight is replaced when you refill your fluids. However, in order to sweat, you need to burn up calories. Sweating uses up energy as your body tries to restore your normal temperature. Sweating works best when combined with a healthy program of balanced nutrition and exercise.

You can burn from 1000 to 1200 (possibly more depending on the individual) in each fifty-minute session. Your body will actually continue to burn calories for up to 36 hours due to an increase in its raised metabolic level. Expect to lose one clothing size within 6 to 10 treatments with two to three days between each session.

Fluids lost during the sweat can be replenished, but the calories are not.  Because fat becomes water soluble at 110 degrees F, subcutaneous fat can be released along with the sweat and toxins. If heavy metals are reduced, this will correct metabolic imbalances that cause poor digestion and weight gain. Also, toxins stored in the fat are decreased making it easier to shed fat and lose weight.

Anti-aging & Skin Purification Benefits:

As part of a sauna skin therapy program, infrared sauna therapy helps restore skin to a youthful appearance. Forego expensive cosmetic treatments that may have limited effects or questionable long-term safety. Instead, rejuvenate your skin while also receiving all of the other health benefits associated with infrared sauna therapy.

A study published in The Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy showed significant improvements in skin appearance after just 12 weeks of sauna skin therapy using near-infrared technology. Participants experienced a reduction in wrinkles and crow’s feet, as well as improved overall skin tone, including softness, smoothness, elasticity, clarity and firmness.

Sauna skin therapy is essential to well-toned, healthy, great-looking skin.

Pain Relief Benefits:

One of the most compelling reasons to use an infrared sauna is the natural pain relief associated with infrared sauna therapy.

Now you can forego the pain pills and step into one of our healing infrared havens to relieve tension and relax muscles. Infrared sauna heat works by penetrating joints, muscles and tissues, increasing circulation and speeding oxygen flow. By reducing soreness on nerve endings, infrared heat reduces muscle spasms and helps the body heal itself naturally.

For years, doctors have recommended infrared saunas because of proven relief from sports injury, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis and other chronic pain conditions. In addition, results from studies have shown that acute flexibility can increase up to 3x in infrared saunas. Benefits to an increased range of motion include joint mobility, less friction in the joints, enabling of joint function to diminish stiffness and joint relaxation.

A recent Japanese study published in the journal, Internal Medicine, showed that chronic pain patients experienced a significant reduction in pain levels (nearly 70%) after the first session of infrared sauna therapy. Pain scores also decreased significantly and remained low throughout the observation period. Researchers concluded that infrared heat therapy is effective for chronic pain treatment.

Stress Reduction Benefits:

Sweating is stress reducing and very relaxing for both mind and body. During a session, your body’s muscles are warmed by infrared heat. This helps to release the stress and fatigue brought on by muscle tension.

Stress build-up creates tension in the body, manifesting in various aches and pains. The heat and humidity defuses the pain and relaxes tired muscles.

The heat from the session relaxes the body's muscles, improves circulation and stimulates the release of endorphins. Endorphins are the body’s all-natural "feel good" chemical, and their release provides a truly wonderful "after heat glow.”
